There are many non- Muslim objectors and rejecters to the concept of scientific miraculous description of embryological and medical facts in the Qura’n and the Sunnah . Regarding , the term nutfah used in Qura’n , some claim that Muslims describe it to be the genital fluid and that the meaning of nutfah as described in Qura’n to show the origin of life is the semen . They claim that this description of Qura’n is not new  and the  ejaculation of  semen during the sexual intercourse is a well-known event that can be watched  directly by all people all over the world and at all times . Moreover , this description in Qura’n  is identical to the seminal fluid in man , some translators of the meaning of terms in Qura’n translate nutfah according to this view into the sperm , and , as they claim , this  description means that human creation occurs from male only which is a  great scientific fault of  Qura’n !!   Do you want to know the answer to this false claim??

To answer this claim ,  it is important to say at first that , the incorrect translation or the misconception of the expressions  of Qura’n can not be considered as faults in Qura’n . As regard the meaning of nutfah , it dose not mean a genital fluid nor the sperm . If the ejaculation of semen by male during the sexual intercourse is a direct observation that can be seen by naked eye to all people at all times , then does the ejection of ovum from the ovary at the time of ovulation is also a well known event , does this event can be seen by naked eye or it needs very experienced scientist to document it ??

The term nutfah , as it was explained by prophet Mohammad himself , peace and blessings be upon him , from his haith , when he was asked about creation of children by one of Jews  : ” O, Jew , it is created from both ; from a man nutfah and from a woman nutfah ” ( This hadith was narrated in Musnad Ahmad, volume 1, page 465) .

To explain  this hadith , it is clear from the answer of prophet Mohammad , peace and blessings be upon him , that nutfah is the part by which the man  shares in creation of a child and also nutfah is the part by which the woman shares in this creation .

Now , after science have proven that creation is through fusion of a part from the man ( that is the sperm) and a part from the woman (that is the ovum) , Isn’t this the man nutfah and the woman nutfah given in the previous hadith without any contradiction ??

Thus , it is clear that , the term nutfah is applicable to either the sperm or the ovum respectively . More supporting evidence from Qura’n : ” Then He made his progeny of an extract , of a little weak fluid ” (Surah As-sajda ; 32 : Ayah 8 ) , this verse means that the progeny of Adam are created from an extract  , that means the best of that fluid .

Thus , Qura’n , reported that only the best of the little weak fluid is used for creation of man .  Isn’t this mean that this fluid contains the primary elements required to create man ??  , although  the sperm and ovum are not mentioned in Qura’n , aren’t them the primary elements required for man creation , that are extracted from this fluid ??

Although Qura’n does not mention in the previous verse , to whom this fluid is belonging  , it could be understood that this fluid must be originating  from both sexes , not only one of them , the evidence for that is  from another verse of Qura’n : “ O mankind ! We created you from a male and a female ..”  ( Surah Al-Hujraat ; 49 : Ayah 13 ) ,  this verse mean that Allah Have created mankind from both sexes , the male and female , thus no one can say that Qura’n report that creation is from male only , simply because the verses of  Qura’n explain each other .

In another hadith of Prophet Mohammad , He said : “ Not from all the  fluid (Nutfah) , the child will form , and if Allah Wants to create any thing , nothing can prevent Him to do so ..” (this is a part of a long Hadith narrated by Muslim , 2: 1064 ) , the meaning is clear as not from all the fluid means from only a little  part of it  , as we see there is no contradiction between Qura’n and Sunnah (hadith) on one side and the modern scientific facts regarding creation of man , on the other side , moreover,  science always proves the truth of the data reported in Qura’n and sunnah since the seventh century.
