Pregnancy in Qura’n
It is well-known that pregnancy starts with fertilization, that almost occurs in the same day of ovulation as the life span of the ovum does not
exceed 24 hours after its ovulation. The fertilized ovum must be implanted inside the wall of the uterus to grow into an embryo . Qura’n indicates that the females are our Harth (i.e. the place of tilth ) in the following the following Ayah : “Your wives are a tilth for you , so go to your tilth how you will” ( Surah Al-Baqarah 2: Ayah 223) .The term ” al-Harth” is used by Qura’n to give a polite expression for the sexual intercourse . It describes that females receive the elements required for developing a new human from the males during intercourse , and this process is analogous to the cultivation of the soil and the implantation of the seed therein .
In modern embryology , the term ” implantation” , which is used to describe embedding of the fertilized ovum into the endometrium of the uterus , is exactly the same as ”AL-harth” used by Qura’n in the verse ”Your wives are a tilth for you …” , indicating that females are the places that receive the male nutfah and process it into nutfah amshaj for child creation similar to the soil in receiving seeds to grow them .
If the developmental progress of the fertilized ovum (zygote) in modern embryology (“nutfah amshaj ” according to Qura’n ) is followed , one can see that it leaves the fertilization site in uterine (Fallopian ) tube and passes towards the uterus that will be prepared to its implantation . The zygote “nutfah amshaj ” continues its growth during its course towards the uterus, and when it reaches 6 days old it becomes implanted under the surface of the uterine endometrium that supplies it with nourishment and develops into another stage of a different shape and structure ( nutfah stage is transformed into alaqah stage ).

It roots itself into the endometrium by projecting cells into the uterine endometrium exactly as plants sending their roots into soil .These projecting cells and the opposing cells of endometrium will eventually form the placenta.
